I am an undergraduate student at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and computer science. I've always loved math and sports, and I've developed the skills to help others succeed in learning both. Whether teaching my classmates, friends, or brothers in academics or soccer my goal is to make sure that learning is both fun and rewarding.

I am a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Throughout my three years of undergrad, I have been a preceptor for Cell Biology and Genetics. In addition, I was a supplemental instruction leader in CHEM 101 and CHEM 102. I am currently a Medical Scribe, but I will be attending VCOM for medical school starting Fall 2018.

I tutor because I enjoy it. I also tutor because I am good at it.I enjoy being able to empower students to feel the same euphoria that I felt when I overcame my own struggles in Math. Yes, I struggled with Math. I was a C minus student in Math on a good day. All the way up to High School, I worked hard, and tried, and failed to excel in Math. I excelled in all my other subjects, but Math was a different beast. In High School, I resolved to give Math my all, once and for all. I signed up for some intensive tutoring--3 hours a day, 6 days a week, for one month. On a grading scale (UK), where a score of 75% or higher is an A (and I was hoping to reach the 75% mark), I scored a 100% on my final exam. I was shocked, amazed, and ecstatic. I felt empowered to pursue any field of higher study. The tutoring that I received helped fill in the gaps and solidify my understanding of key fundamental concepts in Math. Once my foundation was solid, I was able to make progress on my own.I went on to pursue my BSc in Computer Engineering and my MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I have been tutoring for over a decade now, and am a Master Level Certified Tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association.Having struggled, and eventually overcome those struggles in Math, I am committed to helping students succeed. I believe in the ability of each and every student to gain comfort with this often maligned subject. I adapt my teaching style to accommodate the unique learning style of each individual student. I have worked with students of a variety of ages and skill levels. I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas (whoosh) and most recently, Louisiana State University (geaux tigers). At UTD, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus on geriatric disorders and my Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology with a focus on feeding and swallowing disorders. At LSU, I received my Master of Arts in Communication Disorders with a concentration and thesis on feeding and swallowing disorders within the pediatric population, in particular premature babies. During my time at both LSU and UTD, I tutored in various capacities. I was a teaching assistant for a Statistics class for 5 semesters at UTD. At LSU, I tutored student athletes for 15 months in various subjects. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math. In my experience helping students (elementary-college), Math always seems to be a subject where students have a mental block. It is always a pleasure to get through that block and break (seemingly) complex problems into their parts and then watch the student work through the problem on their own. I am a strong believer in continued learning throughout life and try to instill this drive within my students. In my spare time, I enjoy music (both playing and listening), swimming, running, cooking, and traveling.

I am currently doing my Masters in Sustainable Engineering at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania and love learning about new people and places!

The majority of that time has been spent in the middle school math and science content areas, however, I am proficient at tutoring Middle School Math, Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II as well as high school biology and physical science. In my teaching career, I have acquired a plethora of experience with teaching students with various learning differences as well as those students who come from traditionally undeserved populations. . My belief is that all students are capable of learning, they just need the right teacher at the right point in their learning path. I always strive to be that teacher for the students that I teach!
