Andres: Delaware County tutor
Certified Tutor
I began tutoring my freshman year in college after my professor approached me to tutor her Beginning Russian class. As an aspiring educator, I jumped at the opportunity. I learned quickly that patience and flexibility would be integral if I hoped to effectively communicate the language's difficult grammatical concepts. Working at a community college, I worked with students of varying ages and academic backgrounds and abilities: some who were fresh out of high school, others who were working professionals, and still others who were life-long learners. I worked hard to create an atmosphere free of judgement and showed myself willing to adapt my tutoring style to meet each student's needs. After transferring to Bard College, I continued to develop my tutoring style. I remain committed to honing my skills even after graduating.
In addition to beginning and intermediate Russian, I am qualified to tutor high school and college level writing and math, from the elementary level up to algebra 2. I believe my job as tutor is to teach students how to think about how to approach problems, regardless of the subject they are studying.
On my off time, I enjoy studying languages (I am currently studying French and Czech), reading, drawing hiking and cycling and am especially fond of swimming. In September, I will begin an MA in Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College, during which I will study Russian and French literature.
Note: I am currently available for remote tutoring only.
