Learning about teaching drove me away from a degree in English to one in teaching students science. I was inspired by some excellent teachers in my past to strive to foster curiosity in my students. I want them to be interested in the world, and I want them to be motivated to seek out their own understanding.
The students I've worked with have challenged me on many levels, but they've also made me laugh. Getting to know so many people makes it so much easier to walk into the classroom every day, and is a huge motivator for me as a teacher.
I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in secondary education and Biology. I love teaching high school bio, but I also love learning about chemistry and physics, and I hope I can teach those someday too. Middle school is fun to teach in its own way, and I think it leaves a lot more room for creative lessons, but some of the nitty-gritty details are what makes science so engaging.
I have a passion for community service, especially helping animals in need. I've tried to develop leadership skills in the past, and I would like to instill those same ideologies in my students. If I need to kill time, music, video games, and exercise are my go-to's
As a teacher and a tutor, I want to engage my students with the concepts I find so interesting. I want to make students have a role in the classroom other than just as a listener.
