Certified Tutor

I first began tutoring my younger siblings in math from the age of 7, then continued on to be a peer tutor and teaching assistant through high school and college. I have a Master's degree in mathematics from the University of Akron. Throughout my education I have worked with 2nd graders through college students. I focused mainly with high school and college age when working in the math department as an undergraduate and graduate student.

I see math like solving puzzles, like a game, and helping students have a good time learning is my goal. I want to pass along a bit of excitement for this subject that tends to give angst. I find such joy in helping a student not only learn how to do math (applying the math formulas and steps) but why (the concept behind the math formulas). I think fully understanding a concept goes beyond simply knowing how to plug in numbers, but getting to learn why it works.
