Hi, I'm Savannah! I am just finishing the final semester of my undergraduate work at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education where I studied Applied Developmental Psychology. I will be starting my graduate program in the summer at the same school focusing on Instruction and Learning. I have always had a passion for teaching and learning that has been further developed during my time in the CASE program at Pitt where we focused on learning not only how to teach well but also how to serve the overlooked populations of our society through education. My underlying goal as an educator is to bring social change to my classroom, in the lives of the individual students, in the school culture as a whole, and ultimately somewhere within the greater education system. I want each of my students to know their worth and their value, to feel loved and respected, and to feel welcome and safe. I want to teach them how to read, but even more than that I want to teach them how to be successful and equip them with the tools necessary to achieve that success. My goal is to carry over this philosophy in my tutoring too!
