Certified Tutor

In September 1999, as an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UW-L) to
pursue the International Management degree, I was actively involved with the International
Student Organization (ISO). For two years, I was Vice-President of Special Events and ISO
President for one year. Additionally, I served as a peer advisor for four years in the Office of
International Education and Engagement (IEE) at UW-L. These experiences have helped me to
acknowledge, appreciate and respect that these individual differences are what make this world
unique. As a graduate student in Student Affairs Administration at UW-L, I gained experience
in working with large groups of students and event planning. I worked closely with the
International Banquet and Food Tasting events, assisting with the selection of recipes,
preparation of the food, and setting up of the dining room. I learned how to work with the
students and guide them so the outcome was a successful event for all attending.
In the spring of 2007, I began working in a full-time managerial position for the University
Dining Services at UW-L. I managed the employment budget and payroll, prepared employee
work schedules and planned special events in the main dining room. One of the most rewarding
aspects of this position, however, was the opportunity to hire, train and supervise international
and American student employees. Because of my international status, unique background and
close connection with UW-L, student employees from both overseas and here felt comfortable
asking questions or for advice regarding issues they were facing in both their work, academic
and personal lives. I feel these interactions eased their transition to campus life. Even today, we
still keep close contact by doing something we all like. It includes cooking, traveling, and
watching movies together. Furthermore, during the daily operation, I had wonderful
opportunities to meet customers from different backgrounds. I was interested in getting to know
them through our great conversations. Moreover, I enjoyed assisting them and addressing their
concerns through attentive listening.
In September 2016, I started working for Upward Bound (UB) at UW-L as Program
Assistant. My job responsibilities included providing support for potential participant
applications and participant reports; maintaining participant files and electronic database;
supervising academic year tutoring sessions; coordinating organizational events; conducting new
students orientation; assisting with student payroll and budget management; updating the
organization website and Facebook group page; preparing newsletters; managing the daily office
operations. I enjoyed providing resources to help answer any questions and try to fulfill the
needs of UB's potential and current students. In addition, what I enjoyed the most was
supervising Thursday tutoring and tutoring Chinese for schools in the La Crosse area. There
were three tutors from UW-L, fifteen students from Logan, Central and Onalaska High
School. I love the interaction with students because it provides a great opportunity where we
can teach each other and grow together.
I continually strive to do what I truly believe in, which is to serve others by providing excellent
customer service. In addition, I take great pride in continuously dedicating my time to help make

a difference in more people's lives. I am a self-motivated, open-minded, well-organized, detail-
orientated, resourceful, caring, and hardworking person. I learn new systems quickly, maintain

confidentiality, provide timely responses, and willingly accept constructive criticism. I welcome

challenges in my life and I am confident in my ability to handle those challenges with a positive
attitude. I would love to utilize all my skills, experience and education with my energetic
personality, friendly nature, and creativity to help you learn quickly and easily. Please note my
rich experiences and extensive knowledge in working with numerous groups of diverse students.
I am excited about the valuable and rewarding opportunities being a tutor offers, and I know that
my education and experiences have prepared me well.
