My name is Tim, and I am a recent graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and minors in Mathematics and Physics. I graduated from Ocean Lakes High School's Math and Science Academy with an advanced studies diploma. Throughout high school and college, I was fortunate to have academy teachers who cared more for the understanding and success of their students than for simply getting through the curriculum and exams. I have worked to emulate that approach in my own teaching, be it one-on-one tutoring, or running test review sessions in my residence hall. I try to model teaching as an open dialogue rather than a lecture, with many problems done by the student and the teacher as a team rather focusing simple examples or demonstrations. I think that practice is the key to mastery, and try to spend time practicing with the student as much as possible to achieve that.
