Certified Tutor

I'm a rising junior at Columbia University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English. After class, I work as a head editor at the Columbia Daily Spectator, which is Columbia's largest undergraduate student newspaper. Every day, I lead a staff of about 20 students to write and edit articles for the Arts and Entertainment section of the paper. As an editor, I work closely with writers to help them achieve clarity and concision so that their ideas and distinct voices can shine through. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English and other subjects that require substantial reading and writing. I remember the competitive college application process all too well, and I enjoy sharing my expertise and insights with students who are going through the process. I am especially skilled at helping students craft application essays that highlight their individual strengths and showcase their voices. When I was preparing to apply for college, I was able to raise my ACT score into the most competitive range through diligent practice and incorporation of helpful test-taking techniques, and I am passionate about sharing my techniques to help students reach their target scores. In my spare time, I enjoy singing, writing songs, playing guitar, and going to the theater.
