I graduated from Carleton College in 2018 with a degree in International Relations and will be starting graduate school in Eastern European History at Columbia University in Fall 2019. I am excited to share my love of history, philosophy, and the social sciences with students and am committed to helping students not just master the material, but to find joy in learning for learning's sake.
I have trained in advanced techniques of culturally relevant pedagogy, which underscores my approach to teaching. I firmly believe in the power and agency of each student as an individual and work to empower students through learning. The specific techniques and tools that I use vary for each student, as I always tailor my approach to meet the different ways in which students learn best. I also try to bring real-world experience into the learning environment. This means both drawing on my experiences working in federal, state and local government and studying in Berlin and Bucharest as well as highlighting the lived experiences of the student. In doing this, my goal is to showcase the connections between classroom learning and every day life, and to help build bridges between knowledge and experience.
In my free time, I love to cook and to travel. At my core, I am curious about the world, and find food to be one of the best ways to learn about a people and a place. I am always excited to try new recipes!
