During my undergraduate studies, I completed research which involved using advance statistics analyses using Stata software to analyze neuron count in mouse brain slices. The final purpose of this experiment was to determine the significance of data across different parameters and groups (ANOVA analyses with multiple comparison point and post-hoc statistic test). In order to use the software, I had to familiarize myself with the different notions of statistic including mean/median, standard deviation, standard errors, and p-values.
My work included offline analyses of electrophysiology recording using Spikes2 and MATLAB software as well as analyses of the "personal component analyses" (PCA) and the confidence interval (CI) of neuron spikes waveform in order to separate individual units.
I had also used a confocal microscope to scan mouse brain slices, which integrated neurons across values in stacks while applying my knowledge of light and optics through wavelength manipulation and lens magnification. The main part of this work included image deconvolution and understanding of the mathematical application of wavelength in imaging.
Finally, I familiarized myself with 3-dimensional (3D) industrial design using 3D printer software Formlab 2. This work consisted of pre-design, software design and production of small component used in the lab and included the use of geometry and applied mathematics for the production of printed component at the m resolution. I hope to instill my passion for Mathematics and other academics into others through tutoring.
