I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I am a teacher, mentor, tutor, and an educator. I have taught in different educational settings for ten years now. I have worked as a substitute teacher, teacher's assistant, and a teacher. I went to school up in Washington where I received my bachelor's of art degree at a liberal arts college. I love English, especially British and Irish Literature and folklore. I especially like to research Irish myths and their historical and cultural significance to our daily lives. I also have an MFA in the visual arts. Currently, I am working towards my master's degree in education in order to obtain my teaching licensure in Art Education, with a minor in English. In addition, as I have taught all art studio-based classes, I am well-versed in all studio art disciplines. I have also taught AP classes, including art history courses. Teaching studio art for ten years now, I have worked in private academies, public charter schools, after school programs, and public K-12 schools.
I have also started up new programs, worked at after-school organizations and I have assisted in community youth activities and programs. I am always amazed how quickly students are able to grasp the material presented, and those that are struggling to understand the assignment, I am right there for them and I am a support to them as well. I like to think that I live my life like I teach. I also love to hike, walk trails, and be in the forest. I absolutely love to hike near creeks where I can jump from rock to rock. I also enjoy the adventure of climbing up a steep hill with friends. In addition, I like to read books, listen to music quietly (country and Irish jigs is my choice of music), and watch inspirational movies. I am always learning and as a teacher I realize that I must be a positive example for my students so I do everything to be the best that I can be. I know that if I give my best to my students- I hope that then they will be the best they can be as well. This is how I lead my life- I do my very best in everything I do.
