Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Wellesley College where I earned a B.A. in English and Studio Art. After two years as an AmeriCorps teacher and one year bicycling cross-country to raise money for the school I had just left, I received an M.Ed. in High School English Education and licensure in grades 5-12 from Lesley University. During my 6 years as a classroom teacher, I have taught students in grades 5-10 in Massachusetts and in Antigua, Guatemala. I have 3 years of experience working as a general education reading and writing teacher in a co-taught special education classroom and 2 years of experience in a co-taught English Language Learner classroom. As a teacher, I developed all of my own curricula, ensuring that it adhered to Common Core Standards and an anti-racist, social justice framework. While tutoring for Varsity Tutors, I am also working for Syracuse University crafting toolkits (online resources) for individuals with intellectual disabilities and I am pursuing an online Graduate Certificate in Mindfulness Studies from Lesley University. I have also applied for a doctorate in education at Syracuse University in gender and education studies. In addition to helping young adults develop a love for literature, I also do activist work in the LGBTQ community with a focus on supporting gender non-conforming students and staff access resources and navigate academic institutions with an intersectional lens. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy marathon training (6 marathons run to date) and studying health and wellness.
