I believe that all students are capable of finding success with the right supports. I became interested in teaching and education while working towards my bachelors degree in Animal Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I had noticed that while the content of my animal science and general science courses was largely similar, the style of teaching was not. In animal science, professors focused on the practical application of knowledge and creation of experiences that were hands on in their approach. I aim to being that type of learning to my students. By making content relevant and relateable, students are better able to retain information. Since first pondering the importance of teaching methods, I have completed my masters degree at Edgewood College; spent many hours tutoring reading, math, science, and standardized exams; and served as a science teacher at the middle and high school level. I look forward to the new opportunity to connect with students and help them achieve their goals through Varsity Tutors.
