I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I'm Adam! I graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a major in History and a minor in Spanish, and am now a History PhD student at Southern Methodist University. I'm well aware that to many people, history is just a load of dates and dead people. However, history is a very important part of understanding what is going on today. The division of the Ottoman Empire after World War I informs the Middle East conflicts of today, the Mexican-American War gave the US much of the Southwest, and the destruction of World War II enabled America to become the global superpower. When history is looked at that way, it gains a new importance and becomes far more interesting to students. I try to make sure to frame history in a way that emphasizes its continuing importance when I'm teaching.

I spent a year and a half as a substitute teacher with Fort Worth ISD and currently substitute with Yavneh Academy of Dallas. Informally, I worked with many other students in my undergraduate history courses. When giving additional help while subbing, I would work one-on-one or in small groups to ensure the students worked their way to the answer with a couple hints at the direction they should take.
