Certified Tutor

It's important to me that the student becomes fascinated with the subject I'm tutoring. In music I make sure the student understands the composer's intentions in writing the music - what he or she wants to express and how their expression communicates itself to the listener. In this way, I instill in the student a love of the music and the joy in its expression. I am flexible as to the styles of music I teach because I know that students learn better when the music they are playing is familiar and congenial to them.

In languages I always refer to works of literature and to the customs and idioms of the people who speak the language. From the very beginning, the student is made aware of the power of verbal communication and the beauty of the language they are studying.

That being said, it is also important that the student learns the techniques and practice methods of what they are studying. My students achieve a high level of proficiency in the language or music they are studying because they are inspired to achieve higher levels in their language or music skills. If a student wants tutoring in connection with a school curriculum I make sure I am tutoring them according to the guidelines and standards set forth by their school.

I love meeting and connecting with people of all ages. I suppose my younger students see me as a kind of grandfatherly figure, someone who cares for them, and who they trust. From all students I receive gratitude for having helped them to a greater expertise in their studies and for the satisfaction that has brought them.
