Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of The College at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and in Music with a focus on piano and voice. Since graduation, I have taught private piano lessons to students in my own studio, volunteered with an English Conversation Group (teaching English to international students and refugees), and informally assisted in tutoring children and friends with writing, history, and grammar.

I am most passionate about English (especially writing and editing essays), Music, and History. I have had wonderful opportunities to help students learn to love subjects they previously hated by showing them their own innate ability to understand these subjects. I believe strongly that if a student can be shown why something is the case, he or she will be more successful at, and interested in, the subject as a whole.

Helping students become "learning detectives," who get to the bottom of each topic they are learning, is one of my biggest passions. In my spare time, I love to pull out my books of Chopin or Beethoven sonatas and play the piano for hours, paint with acrylics, and read dusty old books - the older the better.
