Certified Tutor

I am an alumnus of the University of Texas Austin with a BA in Latin American Studies with a concentration in History. I am also a TESOL/ATESOL certified ESL/EFL teacher. I am also a fluent Spanish speaker, having spent time studying abroad and living/working in Mexico.

While in Mexico I taught English to children at both the primary and secondary level. In addition I have extensive experience teaching adults of university level as well as in professional contexts.

My areas of tutoring are the English language, History and Spanish. In English I am able to tutor reading comprehension and writing skills as well as grammar and vocabulary to both native and non native learners. My main area of focus in History is Latin America but I am able to tutor both World and American History. I am also able to tutor basic-advanced Spanish grammar and vocabulary as well as accent & pronunciation. I wouldn't say that I have a favorite subject per say; I have a love and passion for both languages and history and love to teach and/or tutor both!

As an educator I think it is my responsibility to find the key to making a subject appeal to the student. By tweaking lessons to make a particular subject fit in with what students are interested in, that topic becomes more accessible.
Patience and a positive, approachable demeanor are key to building trust with students.
