About Me:

I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a focus on mathematics. I also received my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction.

I've been a 5th grade teacher for four years teaching math, writing, reading, social studies, and science. I've planned and led family math nights for the town and led drama club, game club, and Math Olympiad at my school. Over the summer, I am at the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth working with third and fourth graders on geometry concepts and volunteering at a camp to create an environment that fosters friendship and laughter and ensure physical and emotional safety.

I am passionate about teaching because I have had nurturing teachers in my childhood. I grew up learning both Japanese and English at the same time. This caused me to create a language barrier and struggled to keep up with some of my peers. My teachers tried different approaches, provided positive reinforcement, continued to care for me, and helped me get to where I needed to be. The influence I had during my childhood made me want to work with students.

While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I have a passion for the process, complexity, and exploration that mathematics provides. I excel at identifying my students' strengths and weaknesses as mathematicians. Whether it's building a foundation, creating a challenge, or extra practice, I can help take you to the next level.

My vision is to create a community of enthusiastic learners, foster growth, and celebrate individual differences to meet high academic standards and demonstrate responsible citizenship within a dynamic global community.

In my spare time, I like to go skiing, play laser tag, take dance classes, try different foods, and workout.
