I received my undergraduate education at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York. I majored in Chemical Engineering and received a B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering) degree, graduating summa cum laude. I attended Columbia University (also in New York) for graduate school, earning M.S. (Master of Science) and Eng.Sc.D. (Doctor of Engineering Science) degrees in Metallurgy and Materials Science and Materials Science and Engineering, respectively.
In graduate school I worked for several years as a teaching assistant, which included some lecturing, grading, and tutoring.
After graduating, I worked as an engineer and accrued more than 20 years of experience in various segments of the technology industry, including aerospace, consumer electronics, and electrical/electronic manufacturing.
I started working as an online tutor in November 2017. So far I have tutored students in (college-level) general chemistry, physics, and calculus.
When I start working with a new student, I like to have them send me in advance some materials related to the subject matter that they want to work onfor example, homework problems or practice exams are very helpful. That gives me a sense of the student's current level, and also allows me to prepare for the tutoring session so that the student can obtain the maximum value from our time together. In the event that the subject matter of interest to the student turns out to be outside my area of expertise, I will let the student know right away that they would be better served by finding a different tutor.
I am very gratified to be able to help students progress in their studies by sharing my scientific and technical knowledge and experience, and look forward to working with you.
