I am currently pursuing a doctorate in horn performance and pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder. As a graduate assistant, I was a member of the University of Colorado Boulder Graduate Brass Quintet from 2015-2017 and a teaching assistant for the CU Boulder horn studio from 2013-2014. Over the course of my graduate studies at CU Boulder I've served in multiple capacities, providing private instruction for undergraduate horn majors, assisting with Music Appreciation courses, and working with middle and high school students in the Aspen Valley in partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School. As a performer, I've been an integral part of the musical community in Colorado, having worked with numerous reputable ensembles across the state since 2013, such as the Fort Collins Symphony, the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra, the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra, and the Boulder Chamber Orchestra. In November 2016, I represented the University of Colorado Boulder alongside selected colleagues in a memorable performance at Carnegie Hall. I count myself lucky to be a part of the vibrant musical culture in Colorado. Teaching has always been an important part of my journey. Ever since I started private lessons on the horn, I've been fascinated by the process of discovery during instruction, how curiosity ignites into experimentation and eventually transformation. To engage in the process of improvement with a student is something to be cherished and thoughtfully cultivated. Whether providing private music lessons, editing papers, or helping a student work through a tough geometry problem, teaching enables me to share in the moments that spark curiosity in my students, providing them with the guidance they need to grow. In turn, my own understanding of what it means to effectively communicate the concepts and strategies that bring success is enriched and expanded. Teaching truly is a living, symbiotic activity, benefiting both teacher and student. I hold an M.M. in horn performance from Northwestern University and received my Bachelor of Music from the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles.
