Certified Tutor

I am so excited to be a part of this excellent learning community. I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2000 with a BS Ed in Secondary Social Sciences. I am a certified teacher in North Carolina and I also have National Board Certification. I am not only an experienced Social Studies Educator, but I am also a Highly Motivated Individual with a lot of ideas and energy.

I have 16 years experience entertaining my students with stories throughout history. I am proud to have had the opportunity to teach a variety of students from those in my Inclusion Classrooms to Advance Placement (Ages K-12+). The majority of my teaching has been in the middle/high school setting teaching Social Sciences (World History, European History, US History, Civics, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology. I also have a background tutoring K-12 and college students at Sylvan Learning Center for over 5 years.
I have experience enriching my students' learning abilities and leading workshops to help educators incorporate new techniques into their lessons. I am also currently enrolled online to obtain my Masters Degree in Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
I am extremely good at multi-tasking and have kept extremely busy though teaching and tutoring. I love to help students with history, science, language arts, writing, study skills and test prep. If given the opportunity, I hope to become a valuable asset to Varsity Tutors.
