I live in Phoenix, Arizona with my wife of 47 years. We have two married sons and three wonderful granddaughters. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Two of my key career steps include 25 years of increasing engineering and manufacturing management responsibilities with the 3M Company and 15 years of owning and operating a land surveying company in Phoenix. My wife and I sold that business to a long term employee of the company and I retired at the end of 2015.

While contemplating my future as a young man, I weighed teaching versus engineering and chose engineering. I was attracted to teaching because of the opportunity to have meaningful impact on the lives of my future students. On the other hand, the economic realities pulled me in the direction of engineering. I do not regret the choice I made, but I would now like to travel the teaching path in a small way by tutoring.

My wife and I pick up our two local granddaughters (grades 4 and 8) from school every Thursday and I have the opportunity to help them with their homework in the afternoon. It is a joy to participate in their learning and I would like to have a similar experience with other students that I tutor.

I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading and volunteer work. Together with a friend of mine, I have just started a monthly book club.

I look forward to helping my students achieve excellence by teaching them the materials they need to know. One of my strengths is strong empathy and I am able to personalize the subject for students so they understand the relevance in their life.
