Certified Tutor

I teach Creative Writing at a local junior high. I teach English online to student who lives in China. I have been tutoring college writing for more than a year. My favorite subject to tutor is creative writing, as my Master's degree is in creative writing. There is something therapeutic about getting your ideas on a page and watching them grow as we edit and polish each sentence and word. My Bachelor's degree is in English, and I love to help a student learn the nuances of the English language, which will help them succeed not only in school, but in life. As I tutor, I do not give answers, nor will I do the work for the student. I believe in cooperative collaboration as I teach skills and find the areas the student is unsure and insecure in. I believe in teaching a student how to catch fish rather than handing him a Filet O Fish. One 'A' doesn't matter if a student can't figure out what to do with the next similar assignment. I am available to tutor writing of all ages and levels, English from elementary to college, literature (my minor is in literature), reading, public speaking, college composition, and ESL/ELL. When I'm not behind my computer, I love being outside. I hike, ski, camp, or just sit under a tree. Nature is where I unwind. I look forward to working with you and/or your student!
