Nickie: Hempstead tutor
Certified Tutor
My goal is to help make a difference in the lives of students. I believe that I can do this by taking the time to get to know my students on a personal level, and to come alongside them and encourage them through their struggles.
I graduated with my undergrad Liberal Studies degree in 2007. I was then hired on as a paraprofessional at a local elementary school. Half way through the year I was given the opportunity to become a Title 1 Reading Tutor. I loved the job so much, but also felt like I wanted something more. In 2011 I quit that job and pursued online schooling, through Grand Canyon University; I received my Master's Degree in Special Education: Cross-Categorical k-12, in 2013. I have interviewed with a few schools, but have always been told that I need more experience. I am hoping to obtain that experience through tutoring while I continue to work at our local middle school as a teacher's assistant.
Besides working, which does seem to take up a lot of time, I am married and have one little girl, who is just about to turn 1! We also have a cat and a puppy. Playing with them is always fun for me.
If there is anything else you would like to know, please feel free to ask! I hope that your tutoring experience goes wonderfully!
