I am a rising sophomore attending Cornell University where I plan to study Mathematics, Computer Science, and Economics. In the future, I hope to pursue a career as a management consultant or an operations research analyst.
While in high school, I gained extensive tutoring experience with elementary school and middle school students through Seattle Urban Squash - a non-profit organization dedicated to giving motivated students from underprivileged communities the opportunity to play on a local squash team and provide academic tutoring every day after school.
Furthermore, I also served as a teachers assistant for my math teacher in high school and gained a great amount of exposure to seeing school and academics in the eyes of a teacher. Through this experience, I gained a much better understanding of how students can improve their grades through utilizing their school's resources, communicating with their teacher, and better understanding the goals set out for a given class.
Next year at Cornell, I will be serving as a TA for a computer science class covering Python and object-oriented programming.
In general, I often find myself very invested with the people I am tutoring - to not waste their time and to ensure that the work that they are doing pays off is a responsibility that I take quite seriously. I love working with people and watching their dedication and hard-work pay off.
