I received my high school diploma from Lincoln High School in Lincoln Rhode Island in 2011, where I graduated 13th in my class out of about 250 students. I was involved in National Honor Society and Vice President of National Business Honors Society. I am currently a 2017 PharmD Candidate at the University of Rhode Island which is a 6-year program to obtain my Doctorate of Pharmacy. I have experience working with students in various math and science fields, mainly chemistry, biology, algebra, academic writing, history, and test taking. I have tutored students ranging from middle school to college level courses. My favorite subjects to tutor are any math and science courses, excluding calculus, physics or geometry, as those are not fields I am most comfortable with. I have a solid background in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, as well as writing; thus, these are my favorite to teach. I find that students find algebra and chemistry particularly difficult, and I enjoy utilizing my unique method of teaching to make the subjects more enjoyable, tangible, and meaningful to the student so they can excel in the subject. My teaching philosophy is that not one person is the same, everyone learns differently, and everyone is capable to learn, they just need to be pushed in the right direction. There is more than one way to get to the park, as a former teacher of mine put it. Essentially, there is multiple ways to teach a subject as well as solve a problem. I chose to tutor once I started graduate school in 2013 as I saw teaching as an opportunity to teach myself how others learn, and I could build upon that. Outside of academia I work in the field of pharmacy, where I teach patients or other healthcare providers about medications daily. I strive to always improve upon my current practices, never to be satisfied, and hope to instill that in others as well.
