Megan: South Park tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a TESOL/TESL/TEFL certified language tutor focusing on English, ESL, and Spanish. I love learning new languages. I have recently been working on French. I keep up with my Spanish abilities by watching movies and reading books in Spanish. Right now, I'm reading the Harry Potter series in Spanish!
While I love languages, I got my degree in Art History and Business from George Mason University. Getting a degree in Art History really honed my writing and presenting skills. I was even asked to present my senior thesis at our school's Undergraduate Research Symposium, which was an incredible experience. I love to help my students achieve the same types of rewarding goals.
I truly enjoy coming up with new and creative ways to help people learn. Two of my younger brothers have learning disabilities, so I excel at helping students who learn differently than others. I try to think out-of-the-box when it comes to tutoring sessions. I like to come up with games, rhymes, songs, and activities that will help students create memory connections to what they are learning. Whenever possible, I link a subject a student is struggling with to a hobby or activity the student enjoys. I find the information sticks with them much longer this way.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Try a different teaching method. Not only do different students learn different ways, but they also learn differently for different subjects. I love coming up with creative ways to teach particularly difficult concepts!
