I'm a freshman studying at New York University with an interest in Finance and Computing Data Science. Eventually, I want to combine my passion for social impact and business to create a lasting beneficial change. In high school, I have experience in public and private tutoring. I was part of the National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society in high school, tutoring any student who needed help in any subject.
Outside of academics, I love being outdoors, whether that be hiking, biking, running, or playing sports (basketball, soccer, football, etc.) My passion for the environment comes from me being outside all the time! I also sing in my free time, with experience in the local, state, and national choirs. Watching Netflix is another fun pastime of mine.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Helping a student think of solving problems in a different perspective or thinking about the subject in the context of another will help the student become an independent learner.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I will try to explain the skill/concept in a different way, whether that would be through a visual model or by taking on the concept from a different lens.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
When beginning to work with a student, I find it most useful to understand how the student is thinking about the problem at hand. By understanding how the student is thinking, I can better adjust my teaching to relate to the student.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would help the student get more engaged with a subject by explaining the subject in a different way, specifically in a way that may relate to their lives or goals.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I would ask the student to explain in their own words the concept or skill, and then I would practice another problem with the student just so I can be sure the student knows the material.
