There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right Martin Luther King, jr.
The quote above has followed me, my entire life. I graduated from college in 2008 with no sense of purpose or direction. The only thing I felt that I needed to do was make my way up the ladder in the corporate world. I found myself working in a law firm after college as a purchasing assistant for five years. I then made my way into the property management field, working as an administrative assistant and then an accounts payable coordinator.
These jobs paid well and brought many benefits but I still felt unfulfilled. I felt that I was not doing my part in the world. I was born and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York. Growing up in Far Rockaway could be tough at times and we did not have many outlets or mentors to look up to. I enrolled in graduate school and decided to take classes in special education. I realized that I wanted to take a position that allowed me to give back, to help students better themselves. I take great pride in working with students and finding ways to make lessons more accessible. I am looking forward to tutoring your child and showing different ways of learning, so that they are able to master the material that they are presented with.
