Knowledge is power, but the application of knowledge is more powerful.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ask questions about his / her view on learning.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Teach him / her effectively.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Be accessible, engaged, continuously ask questions, and be knowledgeable about the appointed subject.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Differentiate instruction.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Help them to learn how to ask the right questions to understand what they are reading.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Asking questions on their view of learning.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Helping them to establish realistic goals and relating what they like/love to the subject.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Ask questions before, during, and after learning the material.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Always highlight his/her strengths first.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
By asking him/her about this his/her needs in whatever subject, and giving assessments.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
By asking suitable and relative questions based off of the needs of the student.

The textbook that the student is working out of, and other conceptual supportive materials.
