Melissa: New Bedford tutor
Certified Tutor
I am so excited to work with students and families on their academic needs. I am a lover of learning, and teaching is a passion of mine! Education has been a huge part of my life from childhood through college, guiding me through a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Masters in Education. I have experience working in the public school system at multiple elementary schools, and I have first hand experience with Common Core, Florida State Standards, and testing. My teaching philosophy is that everyone can be successful with the right tools and support, and I incorporate this into all of my lessons.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that everyone can be successful with the right tools and support, and I incorporate this into all of my lessons.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During the first session, I like to get to know the likes, dislikes, preferences, and needs of my student. Often times, I will begin with a pre-assessment to better pinpoint where to begin when tackling a challenge. I also use this time to allow parents and guardians to voice any concerns they might have.
