Certified Tutor
I believe in teaching to the student and building up from there. My current job as a learning specialist with learning impaired and at-risk students has shown me that engaging a student on their level helps lay a solid foundation for progress. Working one-on-one enables me to taylor my lessons and approach to the individual in a way that ensures positive growth and eventually tangible results. I love working with young minds who have the potential to exceed expectations.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teach to the student, and then build up and out.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Personal introduction between both parties and brief overview. More importantly, address any questions or reservations the student holds.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Setting up measured goals they can achieve on their own, and conditioning them to raise the bar a bit higher each time. Providing them with an accurate look at how they can accomplish certain tasks.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Finding the incentive that works for them. Younger students respond well to rewards systems. Older students are usually able to develop more foresight, which opens the opportunity to discuss value systems.
