Certified Tutor

I'm a 2015 graduate of Pomona College (B.A. American Studies) and 2019 graduate of Long Beach State University (M.F.A. Creative Writing). For the last four years I've been working in academic book publishing for W. W. Norton. I am also currently a volunteer literacy tutor at the Long Beach Public Library. I've tutored anywhere from elementary to high school students on and off for the last decade. I also have experience teaching middle and high school English and Social Studies (Lydian Academy). I specialize in literature, reading, writing, and related standardized test prep for those subjects, although I also have a mastery of US History. Tutoring is a model of education that makes particular sense to me, because I've always felt one-on-one interaction is the key to meaningful communication, educational or otherwise. I enjoy getting to know a student as an individual and utilizing that knowledge to more effectively improve his or her academic skills. Outside of these interactions I enjoy hiking, playing soccer, reading, creative writing, and traveling.
