Gabriella
Certified Tutor
My name is Gabriella and I am a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas, with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental, Soil, and Water Sciences. I was also a student note taker and tutor for the Center for Educational Access during my last five semesters. I have a passion for learning and teaching, and especially enjoy subjects in the math/science discipline. I have been living in the DMV since June 2015, and definitely miss my outdoor adventures in the Ozark Mountains. I am very flexible for scheduling and would love to talk to you more either through email or on the phone. I am such a dork and really love making study guides, so if that's your kind of thing you should definitely reach out. I look forward to working with you!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that progress within the learning comes along with the 3 "P"s, “Patience, Persistence, and Positivity.” I like to let my students know that they are totally capable of learning difficult material, mastery just might take longer or more practice than they would like. Assessing the learning style of the individual and tailoring the session to that has been successful for me in the past.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Take a look at the material that they are currently learning, identify problem areas and areas of mastery, set short term and long term goals on a calendar, set up the tutoring binder, and additional logistics if time permits.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Set up goals and performance indicators from the beginning, giving the student the ability to have tangible results to be proud of.
