As a tutor, I want to help students not only get the right answers, but to actually learn the material. I have spent countless hours alone on homework and always wished that there was somebody who has been through the same kind of courses I had who could help me. I can be that person! I am currently pursuing a degree in education and one day would like to become a teacher. I am passionate about education and want to help students succeed!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session, I would evaluate where a student is at with the material and establish where they need to go from there.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I believe that repetition is always a good method when learning. I would make sure that a student can continuously get the answer right on several different problems when making sure that they understand the material.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I strive to be as hands on as possible so that students can be immersed in the material. In foreign languages, it is especially important that students work with the material actively, not passively.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student become an independent learner by letting them take the lead. I can give them the instruction and materials, but by letting them take the lead in a session, they will learn much more.
