Michael: Egham tutor
Certified Tutor
I am motivated to teach because I want to be a part of helping this world become a better place by driving forward the values of knowledge and intelligence in today's society. I understand school can often be stressful at times, and I want to be able to share my knowledge so that my students can see and feel the benefits of learning new concepts and making academic progress.
Over time in my teaching career, I have learned to enjoy the feeling of being a part of a student's success. Everyone learns at a different pace, and I am committed to learning each of my student's personalities and learning styles in order to create the best plan for success for that individual. The improvement and success from executing the plan I make with a student, yields a feeling of accomplishment and happiness that the student, parents, and the teacher can enjoy. This is what I strive for with all of my students.
I have a degree in Chemistry and working on completing another degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. My main area of expertise with teaching is in all levels of math, especially in algebra. I am a musician and have been teaching music for 7 years with instruments such as trumpet, trombone, french horn, and drums. When I am not working, I enjoy reading about computers and smartphones, playing video games, exercising, and playing soccer and basketball.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that through organization, motivation, and confidence, any student can find success in learning any concept. Therefore, I like to instruct subjects around these values in order to ensure progress that the student can see and feel in everyday life.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During my first session with a student, I find it very important to learn more about the person I'm teaching, their personality, and their prior knowledge so that I can better instruct the student according to their style of learning.
