I can help a student become an independent learner by scaffolding and differentiating their assignments until they are confident in being successful independently.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would provide positive reinforcements to inform students of their success, and I would include formative assessments into our sessions to track their progress.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would differentiate their assignment and add modifications to help aide the student.
What is your teaching philosophy?
All students have the power and ability to make choices and learn from their mistakes in order to become successful, independent, 21st century learners.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Spend time getting to know one another in order to create an organic bond. Then complete a pre - assessment on content specified for areas of tutoring.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Spend time practicing guided reading strategies with the student until their comprehension has improved to a level where the student can read independently and comprehend the text.
