Samuel

Certified Tutor

I graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in May 2020 with honors. I studied international relations and international economics, with a focus on human rights, migration, and refugee policy. I participated in study trips to Nepal and Georgia and spent the summer of 2019 interning in Berlin at a think tank.

Prior to starting at SAIS, I worked at a non-governmental organization working electoral reform and assistance projects in Jordan and Libya.

I completed my undergraduate education at Brown University in May 2015, graduating with an honors degree in International Relations. Outside of class, I was heavily involved with Model United Nations as a conference planner and attendee. I helped produce musical theater and was a member of a gender inclusive Greek Society.

I worked as a teaching assistant with Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth from 2013-2015, helping teach classes on international relations and human rights. Working with CTY has been an amazing experience; there's nothing better than teaching a subject that I'm passionate about and having my students understand and internalize the complex material.

I believe that every student is capable of success; my job as a tutor is to help them overcome academic roadblocks. I work with my students to find interesting and exciting new ways to attack a subject; I know from experience that by connecting academic work to a topic of personal interest, a student will be much more willing to engage with the work at hand.
