Hailey: Baidland tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Willamette University and Boise State University. I received my Bachelor of Sciences in Social Sciences with a focus on history, sociology and psychology. My Masters of Arts in Teaching was focused on reading instruction and elementary/early education. In the last ten years of teaching, I have had the pleasure of teaching every grade except Kindergarten. I have been blessed to work with struggling students as well as high achieving students, and I aim to scaffold instruction to each individual learner. I have tutored several different age levels, and am well trained in both Common Core reading and math instruction. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math and literacy. I am a firm proponent of education, and teaching students in ways that they can connect. I love using real world problems to reach students and peak their curiosity. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, crafting, DIY projects, taking my dogs to the dog park, and enriching my life through art and theater.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I would get to know the student on a personal and academic level. I would ask them what they need to focus on, what they view as their strengths and areas they need to work on.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
To become an independent learner, a student must learn to ask questions. I often do that through modeling and discussing my own thought process with the student.
