I have a background in writing and economics. I enjoy writing, learning foreign languages and math. What is your teaching philosophy?
You are only teaching well if you are also learning new techniques and new ways to approach a problem.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would try to find a new way to relay the information, specifically targeting the student’s best way of learning.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I provide multiple examples and stories, and use those to target where the student is having difficulty in their comprehension.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would immediate delve into the student's material and attempt to give the student a fresh look at the material.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can send him new questions. I can ask them to think of new ways to imagine the material. I can provide them with practice tests and self-assessments so that they are well prepared for exams.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would bring real life examples and new questions that are interesting and fun.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Learn where they are having the most problems and how the student learns best.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would bring in interesting problems for the student with possible real-world examples.
