What is your teaching philosophy?

Trying to make the subject or problems more visual and more experimental, so the student could easily understand it.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Introductions and find out the student's level of understanding and interest, and then based on that, I will follow along with him/her.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I will solve a problem or two for her/him in each section and then will facilitate the session so that she/he can solve it on their own, and I would be providing assistance in a place where she/he is stuck.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Motivation is the best approach in enabling students to be independent and interested in a subject. I was one of the students where motivation changed my life and career. I will give her/him the example of how I became a tutor and teacher in math, though I hated math when I was in elementary school. I would provide her/him more examples of math applications and would always appreciate her/his work.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I know we are all human and learn by different methods. So, I would try to find out the way my student learns and then, based on that, will facilitate the session. I am very good at visualizing stuff for a student.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Motivate her/him what she is reading and encourage her/him to read more and more. I will make other possible ways for my students to get interested and read more and more.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Appreciate her/his work and always motivate her/him in verbal and written communication. I know the power of motivation, which changed my life.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Well, that would be an interesting scenario for me to see a student excited with a subject that they are struggling in. I would try to find out the specific area they are struggling with and then based on that, I will facilitate the session in such a way so that my student can easily catch it.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

By asking some questions for making sure my students understand the materials, or we will do the review of the tutorial at the end of each session.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

Starting with basic and simple examples and then encouraging and appreciating her/his work to go in depth with the subject.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

Through asking her/him, or letting the student to work on a problem and then I will figure out what my student needs specifically. Another method would be a survey.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

Well, that is based on our first meeting. I would figure out what way my student learns so that I can adapt my tutoring accordingly.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Stationary, spreadsheets and making the stuff more visible and understandable on printed materials.
