I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012. A late bloomer, I had an epiphany in June 2015 that law is the path for me, so I will be attending law school in the Fall of 2016. In the time between undergrad and law school, I had about as wide a range of experiences as you could imagine. I taught English in Thailand for a year and upon coming home to New York, worked in fundraising for a nonprofit for a year before entering the public sector in marketing at a media agency.
Since returning from Thailand, I have really missed teaching. I get tremendous satisfaction out of knowing that I am helping people learn and grow and succeed -- I decided to join Varsity Tutors to re-inject that joy into my life. I have excelled on standardized tests and would love to use my experience to help others do the same. I really enjoy teaching LSAT, SAT and ACT because it is my belief that, with the right approach, anyone can achieve their performance goals. The LSAT in particular I even found fun. Okay, maybe not the reading comprehension section, but the logic sections shouldn't be a chore to study! Fueled by my overseas teaching experience (where my 6-year old students knew very little English), I have a strong ability to communicate in the most basic terms possible, quickly turning complicated problems into solvable ones.
A self-identifying nerd, my childhood obsession with Harry Potter has grown into an adulthood obsession. I love to watch TV -- some favorites are the Sopranos, Breaking Bad and Fargo, but I also watch Jeopardy every day to hone my random trivia knowledge. As you may imagine, I am an avid traveler. In the last five years alone, I have been to almost 30 countries. I love meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures and am perpetually on the lookout for the next great adventure.
