I have a PhD in Quantitative Natural Resource Management (Biometrics) from the University of Washington. My education and teaching experience has provided a strong background in mathematics, statistics, economics, ecology and environmental sciences. I have taught mathematics and statistics courses for over 30 years to students in a variety of life sciences curricula . Teaching (more importantly, educating!) is my passion. I believe that teaching statistics and math should result in real-world, useful applications of the material. I use a socratic method of questions/answers to encourage critical thinking and problem solving skills. I am also a retired professional fire fighter with over 29 years of fire service. In my spare time I enjoy riding my Harley-Davidson on long road trips, restoring a 1965 Mustang and outdoor sports and photography.
