Sarah
Certified Tutor
Hi, my name is Sarah. I first began tutoring as a college student, originally in math and French. I have continued to tutor those subjects, as well as reading, writing, study skills, and homework help, for more than 10 years. I have been a high school teacher for more than six years, teaching French, math from pre-algebra to algebra II, and SAT Prep.
My philosophy of teaching is that each student has a unique learning style, and thus the learning experience should be tailored to each individual. I do this by discussing with the student what they believe are their needs, and establishing clear, measurable goals. No matter the student, however, success depends upon dedication and commitment, on the parts of both tutor and student. I am eager to give each student my full attention and support.
I look forward to meeting you!

What is your teaching philosophy?
No two students have the same learning style. My approach is to determine the existing knowledge base and preferred learning style/method of each student, and cater the learning experience to them.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
The first step is always to discuss what the students believe to be their strengths and weaknesses, and establish both short- and long-term goals. Together, we will establish a plan of attack and discuss strategies to achieve a successful outcome.
