I graduated from Oberlin College with a Comparative Literature degree and have spent my life pursuing the mental thrill that comes from education, whether I'm learning something or passing it on to others. I have helped a diverse range of people understand subjects from Spanish to drumming, improv comedy to calculus, up to this past year with AmeriCorps when I spent all my time tutoring literacy to struggling elementary schoolers. Through these experiences I've learned how to discover and draw out the strengths that each student brings to the table; how to be sympathetic to students' frustrations while also pushing them to succeed; and how to find new and creative ways to make material resonate with different kinds of brains.

I am well-versed in elementary school subjects as well as higher level humanities (especially English, Spanish, writing, SAT prep); I'm most experienced working with elementary schoolers but am also excited to apply the patience, creativity, and flexibility I've developed with them to older students. When I'm not tutoring I'm playing the guitar, making movies, writing novels, and doing whatever other creative activity I can lay my hands on.
