Certified Tutor

My approach to tutoring is simple. If you set high expectations your students will meet them. Over the course of eight years, I have worked with students of varying ages and academic abilities in cities across the country. With all the differences across state lines, one fact was unanimous; great education starts with collaboration and ends with incorporating feedback. I am confident my career experience and educational background have provided me with the tools to be an exemplary tutor for your child.

As a New York City Teaching Fellow, I became a certified secondary school teacher and earned a Master's in Education. My passion for education was shown by ending my first year raising my school’s science achievement level by 250%, earning the highest state exam passing rate in the nine-year history of Astor Collegiate Academy, a college preparatory high school in the Bronx.

Additionally, I have worked in one on one tutoring settings since I was of high school age. Beginning as a near peer tutor for gifted students, my abilities to communicate and educate have grown continuously. As an undergraduate student, I volunteered as a high school tutor, and upon graduation I worked full time as a tutor and mentor in Los Angeles through AmeriCorps, a Federal service organization.

Developing individualized lesson plans and designing specialized curriculum for gifted students is a strength of mine.

I am currently a graduate student on the PhD track at Columbia University studying international development as it relates to urban planning.
