What is your teaching philosophy?

My philosophy is very basic; do what is necessary to meet the needs of the students. Their goals are my goals. It is my job to help the student on the road to success.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would first like to assess the academic level of the student as pertains to the subject being addressed. From there I can then plan a curriculum that will achieve the goals that the student and I have determined.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I would give the students assignments that would challenge their cognitive skills, and encourage them to research information pertinent to their learning.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

To motivate a student, one must understand their interests and find ways to incorporate those interests into their learning.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

To address a student's difficulty in learning a skill or concept, I would investigate where the issue lies that is impeding their learning and address those issues.
