I am currently attending Illinois Wesleyan University with a double major in Physics and Music. I am a member of the Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra as well as multiple physical societies including the APS, SPIE, and Society of Physics Students. I hope to combine my passions for music and physics in areas such as acoustics or audio engineering.
This diverse field of study has given me the opportunity not only to challenge myself intellectually but also to understand the different approaches to learning. What works for some students might not work for others, and it is my aim to find the right approach to assist a student in understanding any sort of material. This is also why I really enjoy tutoring subjects such as ACT Prep, where I find it rewarding to help students figure out what test-taking strategies work for them and to see their scores improve. As for core subjects like mathematics, I believe that one has to start by solidifying and reinforcing the core concepts in order to gain real understanding and comprehension. This is why I will move slower on topics that need more focus and use a student’s time efficiently and effectively. Learning should not be frustrating or discouraging; my goal is to help students navigate the academic waters, so to speak, and to make learning into a fun and rewarding experience.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing sports (especially soccer), playing the violin, solving Rubik’s cubes, and playing old video games. As well, I have had the privilege of being a camp counselor during the summer and working with kids on the American Ukrainian Youth Association’s summer camps in Wisconsin.
