Certified Tutor

I am a recent UC Berkeley graduate with a BA in Molecular and Cell Biology and an emphasis in Neurobiology. I was an out-of-state student from the Midwest, but I have come to love California as well! I started tutoring in high school and pursued it in college because I loved the experience so much.

At UC Berkeley, I was hired by the university to tutor other college students in general chemistry and organic chemistry. In college, I also worked as a TA/UGSI for organic chemistry; I planned and gave lectures, tracked my students' academic progress, and oversaw my own laboratory class. I love chemistry as a subject, but I also enjoy learning and teaching biology and writing!

I also briefly volunteered as a mentor to help middle school students who were struggling academically in math. During my tutoring sessions, I not only had the opportunity to help students academically but also to advise them on college and life decisions. I think it is important get to know the student, allowing me to personalize my tutoring style to him/her, in order to truly help him/her reach academic success. Part of my tutoring method includes teaching study skills and testing strategies. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students become confident enough in their abilities to study solo for future (or even current) classes. Students of mine come back to me for help and guidance in all other subjects, and some have even been inspired to become tutors as well!
