I gained my tutoring experience at the Santa Rosa Junior College Writing Center where I conducted intensive one-on-one sessions with a broad range of students from new English learners to advanced literature students. I gained experience teaching essay structure, style, critical thinking, and reading comprehension. I got along well with my colleagues and learned to work with difficult students and set proper boundaries. I have also done extended work with graduate students assisting with thesis papers in English literature.

My warm and attentive manner, coupled with my sensitivity to the needs of the student, sets me apart as a tutor and allows me to put students at ease and create a dynamic of partnership rather than of authority. I offer a patient, rigorous, tutoring style that focuses on allowing the student to find their own solutions. I am comfortable teaching a variety of levels and student backgrounds, from basic grammar lessons to fine-tuning theoretical arguments. I especially enjoy building long-term working relationships with students and have had many students at the Writing Center request me for weekly sessions. I take my work very seriously and strive for punctuality and professionalism.
